| The Project / Vagina. The word itself is somehow vulgar. In a one-night stand a stranger will see her vagina, but in her lifetime a woman may never really look at her own. This letter form project was to comment or represent womanhood or feminism. The initial response was to embellish the idea of woman. This project then evolved into a commentary about the role of graphic design in contemporary subjects. This image is shocking for many. It doesn't matter that it is a body part that also produces the miracle of life or the simple act of urinating. The vagina has been labeled again and again as a symbol of sex. women's vagina is sacred, women are violated sexually too often, awareness or appreciation and love to her body part, woman?s voice, show acceptance of all sides that are viewing, narrowing timidness of woman?s body, and trying to promote dialogue between woman and man, woman and woman, woman and society. The process / Through a laborious search, I found a model on the highly trusted site, Craigslist. With strides, she trusted the absurdity of the project which we saw as ultimate empowerment. In the end the typeface became more of a feminism graphic form, rather than the function of these letters as legible typography. |
